Did they change the P.I. rule in the NCAA?

i ask because i'm sitting here watching the UNLV-New Mexico game, and the Lobos just threw a bomb towards the endzone from near midfield... there was pass interference, and the referee spotted the ball in the one yard line...

i thought that P.I. was a 15 yard penalty in the college ranks...?

Still only 15 last time I checked.

Still 15 yards. The reciever caught the pass so the penalty was declined. That's why it seemed like a spot foul.

No rule change. The unique thing that applies to defensive pass interference is that there's no half the distance penalty inside the 30 yard line. If you're on the 18-yard line and get a PI call in the end zone, the ball goes to the 3.

are you watching it too? i didn't see that he caught it...

BTW, i'm from Pickerington...

Absolutely I'm watching it. Pretty good game considering. That receiver for NM is having a great day, he was getting pulled down and still hauled it in.

I'd much rather be where you're at! In fact if all goes well, I will be soon!

So, if we have the ball on their 14 and they interfere our WR in the end zone, it's a touchdown?

Looked like NM was going to run away with it early, UNLV did a great job containing the NM offense and making plays when they needed to. Came down to a couple feet, if it goes to OT I have to like UNLV's chances.

I'll definitely let you know, I've gone out there one weekend per fall (with the better half) the last couple years, but I may be stuck in the "family" vacation this year. If I can find a way out there, I'll definitely let you know.

You know, they don't seem to ever spot the ball inside the 1-yard line.

I should have known that was coming - wiseass. :tongue2:
