Desmond Howard (traitor and whiny btch)

So Desmond's on the Hot Seat today, and they ask him about the Texas/aTm mixup in his comments about the Holiday Bowl. He apologizes to fans of both schools, and says "You don't need me to tell you who your teams are playing in their bowl games, but I'm still picking Cal."

I can think of worse things than for a guy to mix up saying "Texas" and "Texas A&M." Hell, I hear people often mix up Ohio and Ohio State, and I've never heard any kind of backlash against them.

true, but no one ever mixes up the actual teams of ohio state and ohio university--just the names. desmond, on the other hand, discussed some longhorn players and, therefore, actually thought that texas would be playing cal. of course, the disparity between the bucks and the bobcats is much greater than that between the longhorns and the aggies, which underscores the misidentification.

This wasn't a mistake made while a group of guys were discussing multiple games at at once, where such a mistake might be somewhat understandable.

Announcers were taking turns, each talking about 1 game at a time. It was up to Desmond to talk about the Cal-aTm Holiday Bowl, before they moved on to Ed Cunningham talking about a different game. It wasn't a general discussion where he made a mistake. Howard's job was to talk only about the Cal-aTm game for 15-20 seconds, with only the Cal and aTm logos on the screen at the time. It's reasonable to assume that he was aware ahead of time that he was going to be asked to discuss the Holiday Bowl.

So talking about Aaron Ross, the Thorpe winner from Texas, covering DeSean Jackson in the Holiday Bowl was a blatant error worthy of ridicule.

Not if Ross transfered to A&M. :shake: :p

Holy shit Desmond just complimented the Buckeyes, saying they're flying under the radar and could move even higher in the rankings. Dammit Desmond, you sold out to ESPIN. Throw the Heisman up or do something to redeem yourself!

Was he able to say it in a complete sentence? If so, it was definitely an imposter. Someone has kidnapped the real Desmond Howard!

Hahahahahaha....That's the thing I love about college football.....Desmond flashed the Heisman 16 years ago and people still hate him, it's great. Michigan/OSU is just one big ball of animosity, and it's awesome

A remake of the 3 Amigos with Howard as El Guapo would be fitting.

That Heisman pose is being used as one of the promo lead-ins for the November 13th HBO documentary on The Game.

Which I am eagerly awaiting.

Howard: U-M may struggle

Desmond Howard, the former Michigan receiver and Heisman Trophy winner who covers college football for ESPN, visited Ann Arbor last Sunday for the Griese/Hutchinson charity golf outing.
As always, he had plenty to say.
Angelique Chengelis, Michigan beat writer for The News, caught up with Howard to discuss coach Rich Rodriguez, the coaching search process (Howard was a member of the committee), and what a Michigan Man thinks of a former Michigan player transferring to Ohio State.

Q . Your ESPN colleague Kirk Herbstreit has said Michigan will go 6-6 this year. What do you think of the Wolverines' chances this year?
A . It's going to be a challenge. I think when you look at the Big Ten, I think that you automatically think Michigan will be better than a .500 team. But when you factor in that there's a new system, that there aren't the athletes that coach Rodriguez would usually have to run this system, then that may be what people are looking at to say, 'OK, it may be a 7-5 or 6-6 season.' I think that's what they're looking at when they say that. I don't know Coach's history, but I think this is probably one of his biggest challenges as a head coach simply because this is the biggest stage he's been on. ...
He's trying to build a house with someone else's materials right now. So, I'm just real interested what that product is going to be like in September.

cont'd

Desmond was on the search committee (at least in name) and he claims he had no knowledge on what was going on. LOL!!!!
