DE Sam Hubbard (All B1G, National Champion, Cincinnati Bengals)

Wanted to buy a Bengals jersey, but couldn't think of a player I liked enough to go in on one. And then Sam reminded me there is in fact a player I definitely like enough on the Bengals to buy a jersey on and I have a #94 on the way. So pumped for Sam to be tearing it up this year in his hometown, he has been a thrill to watch this year.

Easy decision.
Of course, #78, Anthony Munoz's jersey is always a solid pick.

BUCKEYE BENGALS NOTCH SACKS

After Bengals defensive lineman Carl Lawson suffered a knee injury, the door opened for Sam Hubbard to notch some more playing time.

While it wasn't the ideal scenario for it, Hubbard responded with a sack and five tackles in the Cincinnati win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Also, after signing with the team a few weeks ago, Adolphus Washington notched the first sack of his Bengals career. He added three tackles. Washington has proved to be a nice depth signing for the 5-3 Bengals thus far.

Hubbard also disrupted Winston to the point of throwing his second interception. Really nice play that doesn't show up in the stats.

Hubbard is the most disruptive player in our front 7 outside of Geno Atkins...he is having himself a monster rookie season, hoping the Bengals take note and draft some more Bucks in the future. Also, Diesel killed it too...really fun to see two Buckeye alums wrecking it on our DL.

2 more sacks yesterday, 1 of which forced a fumble that the Bengals recovered, and 3 QB hits, all in the first half in the Bengals victory over the Raiders. He also served as lead blocking FB for a Mixon TD, again.

Sam Hubbard stars in three phases in Cincinnati Bengals win against Oakland Raiders

The Cincinnati Bengals rookie defensive lineman had his first multi-sack game and forced a fumble Sunday in Paul Brown Stadium. But he almost caught a touchdown while serving as a fullback and had another sack within reach that was instead credited to Geno Atkins.

And after all of that, one of the first aspects Hubbard listed about his performance in the Bengals 30-16 win against the Raiders was the job he did blocking on special teams.

Sam Hubbard compares Bengals culture to that of his former Ohio State Buckeyes

Sam Hubbard is seeing his collegiate culture in the Zac Taylor-led Bengals.

The entire culture of the Cincinnati Bengals changed when they hired Zac Taylor, the former quarterback coach for the Los Angeles Rams, ending the 16-year reign of Marvin Lewis. Taylor’s arrival has revived a fanbase that had seen three straight losing seasons.

Getting his start as a collegiate coach, Taylor drew a comparison of the winning culture that’s he’s trying to instill in Cincinnati to that of the Ohio State Buckeyes from former Buckeye and current Bengals linebacker Sam Hubbard.

“I’ve got about a month or so under my belt working with them, and it’s pretty similar to what I was used to at Ohio State,” Hubbard told Dan Hope of Eleven Warriors.

“The energy they’ve brought in and the new attitude, the winning culture they’re trying to create, I love every minute of it.”

Hubbard played on Ohio State from 2015-2017. Losing a mere five times in 40 appearances, Hubbard was dominant as a linebacker for the scarlet and gray. For the Orange and Black, he performed likewise.

At least in his opinion, Hubbard’s rookie season went “really well.”

During his rookie season, a year Hubbard wasn’t supposed to make an impact in, he totaled 39 tackles, six sacks and even found himself running in a game-changing touchdown against Miami.

Hubbard is used to winning, and behind Taylor, he’s ready to return to the team-wide success he found at Ohio State.

Being selected in the third round after his third season in Columbus and after attending high school in Cincinnati, playing for the Bengals was a dream come true for Hubbard.

That said, what would winning a title for the city and ending their championship drought mean?
