DE Jonathon Cooper (2nd Team All American, Denver Broncos)

Best of RCS: Defensive line
5. DE Jonathon Cooper
RCS: Atlanta

The Latest: Cooper committed to Ohio State last November and remains a strong pledge to the Buckeyes.

The Skinny: Cooper wanted to get his Rivals Camp Series performance in early and traveled from his home near Columbus to Atlanta in March to take on some of the Southeast's best. In a deep defensive line group, the 6-foot-3, 223-pound Cooper was ranked as the second best performer, winning almost all of his one-on-one reps.

And earned an invite to The Opening.

  • Jonathon Cooper // DE // 2016
I don't think many in attendance today would argue against Columbus native Jonathon Cooper being the overall MVP of the event. Cooper was absolutely dominating against each and every one of the offensive lineman he faced today, and he only took his reps against the best of the best. I watched the 6-foot-3, 230-pounder take at least a dozen reps and I didn't see him lose a single one and at times he embarrassed the guy he lined up against. One of the Nike folks told Cooper's parents after the event that it was the best performance they've seen from a defensive end this year and it's not hard to believe it: he was awesome.

The Opening Columbus: Best of the Best Defense
Alpha Dog
Ohio State commit Jonathon Cooper is a bit of a tweener in terms of size but he does all the little things at defensive end that make you think he's going to be special. The kid plays with a big-time motor, he's quick off the ball, uses his hands really well and he only lost one or two reps all day. Often times, Cooper's speed caused offensive linemen to retreat well into the pocket before he would even engage.

2016 OHIO STATE COMMIT JONATHON COOPER CONTIUES SUMMER CAMP TEAR

Last week, 2016 Ohio State commit Jonathon Cooper put on a show at The Opening's regional camp in Columbus. This week, he's doing it all over again.

Cooper is in Baltimore for this weekend's Rivals Five Star Challenge and, based on some brief videos, it appears he's abusing opposing offensive linemen once again.

Should the Buckeyes land a commitment from Nick Bosa, as expected, their 2016 defensive line recruits will be somewhat terrifying.

What are teams going to do with this animal coming off of one side and little Bosa coming off of the other? I guess they will have to relax when Hall comes in the game to give one of them a blow? Good luck with that LOL

Don't forget about also having to rotate with Cornell and Jones. LJsr must be drooling with the talent he's getting to work with

Interview with Cooper on his outstanding camp circuit. Wants his 5th star and to keep competing, gotta love his attitude. Watch it and you will realize pretty quick that he will choke you over checkers. This kid has improved so much the past year, I really think is approaching 5 star status quickly...he's borderline unstoppable and against the best in the country. We are in for a treat here.
