Well.....it showed he lacks versatility. Maybe if they had a more normal camp and he got additional reps, but previous thought was, he’d be able to adjust playing CB outside and be another elite cover corner.

And it just didn’t happen leaving most NFL scouts to assume he’s a nickel/slot cover guy. Which is valuable, but not as valuable as a guy who can play outside.

It is what it is....I think even Shaun wood admit the season didn’t go the way he hoped. He put out a lot of bad tape.....and I live Shaun as a person and player. Hindsight being 20/20 he’d have been better off sitting season out and not putting out bad tape.

That said, his ability in the slot is elite and most NFL teams use multiple WR sets so he has a chance to be great. And maybe over time he learns to play outside.....

If they need me at safety, they need me at safety,” Wade said after being drafted. “I've still got versatility, and I still can do everything. My No. 1 thing is be healthy, and when I'm healthy, you'll get the best Shaun Wade.”

Although Wade probably would have been selected earlier if he entered the 2020 NFL draft, Wade has maintained that he has no regrets about playing another season with the Buckeyes and that the adversity he faced this past season – when he battled through groin and turf toe injuries – have helped prepare him for the challenges he'll face at the next level.

“It's just a blessing to be drafted,” Wade said Saturday. “I'm part of the one-percenters. That's what one of my coaches texted me today, you've gotta enjoy the moment that you're part of the one-percenters, and this is everybody's dream, just to get drafted.”

As much I hate the Ravens and don't want to play against him in our division, this is a great landing spot for Shaun. Really feel for him as he fell down the boards...kid comes back to get a degree and help us win a championship and goes to war to have a season with the COVID-19 happenings, and he goes from a first rounder a year ago to this. But hey, he's drafted and he'll have his opportunity to prove his doubters won't. No matter what happens, I'll have nothing but fond memories of Shaun and all he did for this university. I'll be rooting for you Mr. Wade!

Shaun Wade, CB (Round 5 Pick 160, Baltimore Ravens)
Personally, I was shocked to see Shaun Wade drop to the fifth round. I thought he would go second, possibly third round. Therefore, the Ravens got an absolute steal! A consensus All-American and team captain, Wade brings leadership and talent to this Ravens team. He was Ohio State’s first-ever Tatum-Woodson Big Ten Defensive Back of the Year and a two-time all B1G honoree.

Wade had 92 career tackles, 23 PBU’s, and six INT’s. The Ravens’ current slot CB, Tavon Young, has suffered three season-ending injuries in five years. As a result, drafting slot cornerback depth was a priority for Baltimore. Wade didn’t have a great senior season, especially when compared to a phenomenal junior year. He simply could not perform at the same level outside as he did in the slot. Therefore, with a move back to the slot in the pros, he could bounce back and succeed the Ravens current fragile CB.

Just sayin': It looks like Tavon Young only started 17 games in his 5 years. He only played in 2 games this past season and didn't play at all in 2017 and 2019.

They know I have first-round talent and I know I have first-round talent. Right now it's just putting it on the field and showing it every day. I had a lot of things going on, family situations, injuries, surgeries, turf toe, knee problems, people dying. At the end of the day, it's called adversity. That's something I've been through."

As for Shaun Wade... um, what? Feeding Gen-Z athletes pictures of '90s culture icons has become layup content for professional teams, but this is definitely one of the more alarming videos you will see of its type. Not only does Wade not recognize any members of Destiny's Child, he flat out states that the leader of the trio, "ain't Beyoncé."
