Columbus Crew SC (2008, 2020, 2023 MLS Champions)

Fitting to lose it on a goal after 80th minute. Pack your shit, Caleb.
I’m pretty sure he technically has another year on his contract. If I were the FO, I would see how great Laurent Courtois did with Crew 2 (winning MLS Next Cup), give him a year to prove himself, and if it doesn’t work out, let him continue coaching Crew 2 and go after a bigger fish.

That being said, this team needs a mini overhaul. Keep Mensah and Degenek, and overhaul your CB depth. Get a true out and out Left Back and move Pedro Santos back to winger. Get one more Starting XI quality winger to compete and push Luis Diaz. Maybe look at replacing Eloy Room if the right opportunity is there. Ideally, I’d love to see Keylor Navas in Columbus. If you can’t get that type of quality, give Room another season. The Crew also need a quality backup for Cucho because Erik Hurtado is kinda shit. There’s still a core of players to build around, just need some transfers that actually pan out.

Eloy Room isn't letting himself get peppered from 20 yards in with great looks for the last 15 minutes of every game.

My general feeling is they need to get younger. If that means moving on from Pedro Santos, Josh Williams and others... As much as I like those guys,,, and others, its something to be considered.

For me, I think the porter evaluation goes hand in hand with the DM group. (Nagbe, Artur, Morris) and are they the right group to be the game controllers/tempo setters for the rest of the team. You're not going to be an elite team without elite play from that group so I think its a fair question to ask

As much as I’ve like Nagbe, his regression over the span of this season has been staggering. I think you give Artur another season or two as he’s still only 26, and never really got a chance to get settled in this season. And I think Morris is locked in for next season no doubt. Replacing Nagbe would be tough, but not impossible. But I’m with you, get younger for next season, and see where you’re at.

Well, with Porter out, unless they replace him with someone that wants to play a similar way, its hard for me to believe they would bring him back at anything near what he makes now.

Not looking great tonight so far, down 2-1. Disappointed this is the only game I’ll see all year because of the Apple TV takeover.
The opening home game is available as well

I shelled out my 99 bucks because well, this is the only sport my wife watches so... I feel you but... Actual value for me

Both of those “handball” calls were fucking horrible. On the bright side, I like the new formation. Still going to need another solid CB in the next transfer window, but I think Nancy tactics will work well in Columbus. Also, the Apple TV coverage of MLS is a massive breath of fresh air. Even Taylor Twellman doesn’t seem as twat-y on the studio coverage. I’m so glad I don’t have to flip a coin to figure out if my Bally streaming account will be blacked out of the Crew game every week.

Bad opponent (Salt Lake), but the Crew are really rolling right now (as far as the last two weekends).
Best performance in back to back games in franchise history. That’s also without their record transfer fee ST who’s out for another 1-3 weeks. Knew Wilfried Nancy was a home run hire when they hired him, but I didn’t think he’d have them playing this well as early as they have been.
