Grant Done
Long season of rehab ahead of Grant

LB Cie Grant
2003 third-round pick Cie Grant will miss the 2004 season with a nagging knee injury that sidelined him for most of training camp. The New Orleans Saints announced that Grant would be placed on injured reserve on Tuesday in order to get the team's roster down to the NFL mandated limits.

The 6'0, 230 pound linebacker arrived at training camp only a month ago with high hopes of beating out veteran Orlando Ruff and rookie Courtney Watson for the starting middle linebacker job. But the Ohio State product and hero of the 2003 BCS National Championship game injured one knee and missed most of his rookie season, now has injured the other knee in training camp.

Grant hyperextended his knee in the fifth day of training camp, tried to come back from the injury in the Black & Gold Scrimmage five days later and aggravated the injury during the game. Hewill now spend his sophomore season much like he spent his rookie season, in active rehabiliation in an attempt to strengthen the tendon and muscles around the knee.

Patellar tendinitis is a painful condition that is a constant aggravation and something that can linger despite treatment, and has the possibility of ending Grant's career before it has started. The Saints are hoping that a full year of rehab will allow Grant to restart his career with the Saints again in 2005.

Good luck with the rehab Cie! :osu:

tough break for Grant. He had a real shot at some playing time because the Saints are weak at the LB position again this year. I'm sure he'll work his ass off and won't lose a step for next and will be right back in the thick of things for a starting spot.
