With the current steroids situation in baseball a lot of people are saying recent records should be discraded because they were set by cheaters. But when haven't people cheated in sports, hell baseball has always been about cheating. A lot of the most celebrated pitchers cheated by using spitballs and various other methods. Most of the batters used cork or other things to help them. And most steroids have been around for at least half a century so they most likely used them as well. I'm not saying its alright to cheat but it bugs me when people feel the athletes of the past are somehow better then the present day ones because they didn't cheat, well they did cheat, modern day athletes are just better at it.

So you're saying it is not okay to cheat, yet it is okay as long as everyone does it? Then, in that case, we would have to set regulations on the quantity and quality of cheating allowed--effectively making today's athletes the bigger cheaters.

As far as comparing a spit-ball that makes a pitch curve a few more inches than normal and taking steroids that 1) destroy the user's body and 2) make the user abnormally strong, you just can't compare the two. They are not in the same ballpark (no pun intended).

I never said "its okay to cheat as long as everyone does it" all i was pointing out is that people have cheated in sports for years and that the athletes of 50 years ago and the athletes of today are no different, their all cheaters. Now that doesn't say i think its okay because everyone has done it, i think the sports associations need to have tougher performance enhancement standards and stop the cheating
