Embedding Tweets and Videos
The content you can post or view on BuckeyePlanet is richer than ever before. You can now embed more of the best stuff and make it look better than it ever has before!
How Embedding Tweets works...
Embedding tweets is one of the cool new features of the new version of BuckeyePlanet. Now when you want to post something that you saw on Twitter you con't have to copy and paste the tweet, the username, use quote tags, reformat the text, or any of that. All you need is the direct URL to the tweet you are posting. Just copy and paste that link into your post (no need for quote tags or anything like that) and BuckeyePlanet does the rest! The tweet will show up in your post, appearing and behaving similar to how it does if you were viewing the tweet on Twitter.com. All links that are active in the tweet normally will be active in the tweet as it appears in your post, so you can click to follow a link posted by the person who made the tweet, or you can navigate to their profile or view their avatar.
Please note that the URL you must post to have the tweet embed properly is a very specific one. It is the direct link, which you can access by clicking on the date/time stamp of a tweet when browsing Twitter. Rule of thumb: if you are looking for the direct URL of a tweet and there are other tweets on the screen besides the one you want to post, then you do not yet have the direct URL. Also please note that if an embedded tweet is deleted from Twitter, it will no longer appear in your post.
Please also note that even though it is easier than ever to post tweets to BuckeyePlanet, our old rules about not posting the tweets of current players or recruits in any part of the forums still applies.
How Embedding Videos works...
Good news! Embedding YouTube videos works just like it did on the old version of BuckeyePlanet. The new version of BP goes beyond that though to allow you to embed videos from other sites such as Dailymotion, Vimeo and more! It works the same way too - just copy and past the direct URL of the video in your post, and BuckeyePlanet does the rest of the work!
How to use the Media Button...
While posting, you may notice that there is a media button in the toolbar next to the image button. Clicking this button will give you another way to enter a direct URL to embed media. You can certainly use it if you like, but it's not necessary. BuckeyePlanet can embed just by having the URL in your post - no need to use the button.
