Browns sign DE Jamal Reynolds to two-year deal

LoKyBuckeye

I give up. This board is too hard to understand.
I can't see Reynolds standing out with the Browns... he was a BUST with the Packers. If he can avoid more injuries he may be able to be a solid back up.

Browns sign DE Jamal Reynolds to two-year deal

July 20, 2004
BEREA, Ohio (Ticker) - The Cleveland Browns on Tuesday decided to take a chance on Jamal Reynolds, signing the defensive end to a two-year contract.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Reynolds was traded by the Green Bay Packers to the Indianapolis Colts on July 8, but he was returned after failing a physical. The Packers, in turn, released Reynolds six days ago.

"Jamal is a young player with potential and we felt that it would be in the best interest of the Cleveland Browns to give him an opportunity to earn a spot during training camp," Browns coach Butch Davis said. "He is a former first-round draft choice and there was some intrigue on our part to bring him in and let's see what he can do."

Reynolds, a 2001 first-round pick, was a disappointment for the Packers, playing in only 18 games in three seasons. He recorded 17 tackles, including three sacks, with two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.

The 6-3, 260-pound Reynolds battled injuries during most of his first two years. He was healthy for the first time in 2003 but was de-activated for 11 games.

"I think think this is a great opportunity for me to join the Browns," Reynolds said. "I know many of the defensive linemen, including Courtney Brown, Gerard Warren and Orpheus Roye, and I look forward to getting a chance to work with those guys. I am 100 percent healthy and look forward to getting on the field with camp opening next Friday."
