Big XII (official thread of whining, and homely herpes-having’ hos)

It's unclear whether both schools are aware of the repercussions, and they both declined comment beyond statements issued on Wednesday. One source said the Big 12 also discussed the possibility of finding more revenue for Texas and OU if their motivation to exit is driven by money.
Even if they get them to stay, this time, the Big 12 is dead. It's just a matter of if it's this year, or next year, or 10 years from now. Every school in the conference is going to be constantly looking for a deal and an offer so they're not left out in the cold when the music stops.

One Month Ago:

Big XII Commissioner Bob Bowlsby: "Well Greg, they said we could never do it. They said college football playoff expansion would never come. But thanks to our hard work, we have a proposal that will change college football forever!"

SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey: "I agree. Things are about to change"

BB: I look forward to our best teams competing against the SEC in the upcoming expanded playoff!"

Big 12 officials discuss extra revenue shares for Texas, Oklahoma as enticement not to leave for SEC

Though Texas and Oklahoma appear SEC bound, the Big 12 has not given up hope

Big 12 officials have discussed a structure in which Texas and Oklahoma would receive additional revenue shares as a way of enticing the two schools to remain in the conference rather than pursue a future in the SEC, conference sources have told CBS Sports.

Such a structure would grant the Longhorns and Sooners an additional half-share annually (1.5 shares each), bumping their payouts to approximately $56 million per year. The other eight schools would decrease their payouts accordingly. Big 12 schools currently average $37 million in annual TV rights earnings, including revenue from bowl games and the NCAA Tournament.

“The Big 12 Conference Executive Committee, consisting of Big 12 Board of Directors chairman and Texas Tech University President Lawrence Schovanec and Baylor University President Linda Livingstone; and Commissioner Bob Bowlsby met by video conference Sunday afternoon with University of Oklahoma President Joe Harroz and University of Texas President Jay Hartzell,” the statement read. “‘The meeting was cordial, and the Executive Committee expressed a willingness to discuss proposals that would strengthen the Conference and be mutually beneficial to OU and UT, as well as the other member institutions of the Conference,’ Bowlsby stated. ‘I expect that we will continue our conversations in the days ahead and we look forward to discussing thoughts, ideas and concepts that may be of shared interest and impact.’”

Texas Longhorns, Oklahoma Sooners tell Big 12 they will not renew grant of media rights

Texas and Oklahoma officially notified the Big 12 on Monday that they will not be renewing their grants of media rights following expiration in 2025, the schools said in a joint statement.

"Providing notice to the Big 12 at this point is important in advance of the expiration of the conference's current media rights agreement," the statement said. "The universities intend to honor their existing grant of rights agreements. However, both universities will continue to monitor the rapidly evolving collegiate athletics landscape as they consider how best to position their athletics programs for the future."
