Ben Simmons | @BenSimmons25 | Rising junior
Montverde (Fla.) Academy | PF | 6-9/230 | ESPN 60 Rank: No. 3

Who wants him? We'll know more about his list in the coming days, but Duke and LSU are among the teams rumored to be among his early suitors.

Why he's worth the battle: Simmons came over from Australia last year, but the first time we got to see him compete was at NHSI. During the three-day event, he more than held his own against the best talent in the country. He was a definite X-factor during Kevin Boyle's team's run to the championship and the No. 1 spot in the ESPN 25 rankings.

Simmons has great bounce and skills to shoot the ball, plus he's a power forward who can go inside and score with his back to the basket and grab rebounds. His instincts and passing ability for a young big stand out right away.

Playing with Montverde for a full season during his junior year, he'll have a better opportunity to showcase his talents for college coaches. And we think they'll like what they see. -- @PaulBiancardi

Sources: Ben Simmons won't report, done with Philadelphia 76ers

Philadelphia 76ers All-Star Ben Simmons will not report to the opening of training camp next week and intends to never play another game for the franchise, sources told ESPN.

Simmons hasn't spoken to the team since a late-August meeting when he communicated this message to Sixers officials.

Simmons is clearly aware of sanctions available to the organization to fine and suspend him, including withholding of salary. But so far, Simmons appears willing to carry out a plan to force his way to a new team.

Just sayin': It didn't work for Aaron Rodgers in the NFL, maybe he'll have better luck.

Ben Simmons signed a 5 year / $177,243,360 contract with the Philadelphia 76ers, including $177,243,360 guaranteed in 2020. He's an adult who had competent legal (agent) representation in his contract negotiations; he definitely knew what he was signing. A contract is a legally binding agreement. Anybody on Buckeye Planet feel sorry for him?

Hopefully he has a big enough temper tantrum that a trade for Collin Sexton and Kevin Love is acceptable to the Sixers. The big city teams love to send players to Cleveland as a punishment.

76ers' Ben Simmons willing to forfeit salary and sit out entire season if not traded, per report

The standoff between Ben Simmons and the Philadelphia 76ers could last quite a while. Simmons has asked the Sixers for a trade, and he doesn't plan to report to the team until his wish is granted. However, the Sixers are in no rush to move him unless a deal that helps their championship chances presents itself. In the meantime, the Sixers could withhold Simmons' salary, and all indications are that they plan to do just that.

Thus, the showdown between the two sides could ultimately come down to how much money Simmons is willing to forfeit by staying away from the team. If he's OK with missing out on a sizeable chunk of cash that he would be otherwise entitled to, then perhaps his absence will be an extended one. If not, maybe he'll return to the team and make the best out of the situation until a trade is inevitably made.

So, how long is Simmons willing to sit out? For the entire season, according to ESPN's Ramona Shelburne, who had the following to say during an appearance on The Jump this week:

When you talk to people close to Ben, I say, okay, worst case scenario it takes all year, would he sit all year? And the answer right now is yes. Now, you can say that right now at the beginning of training camp, you can say that you're willing to sit all year if that's what it takes to get traded to a team that you feel more comfortable on. But let's see what happens when you really start missing checks, you really start missing basketball, and the league moves on without you.

Simmons, who is under contract with the Sixers for the next four seasons, is owed more than $33 million for the upcoming campaign, and it's tough to believe that Simmons -- or anyone -- would be willing to forfeit a large portion of that much money just to prove a point. But, at this point, you never know. Despite Simmons' stance, the Sixers expressed hope that he would ultimately return to the team at media day.

Just sayin': His side* is just blowing smoke to try to strengthen his bargaining position, there's no way he'll "sit out" and flush $33M down the toilet.

Ben Simmons lists New Jersey mansion for sale with $5 million asking price after 76ers suspension

Per Trulia, the home sold for less than half its current asking price ($2,275,000) in Nov. 2019.

This isn't Simmons' first foray into the real estate market this summer. In July, right as the 76ers opened trade talks involving the three-time All-Star, Simmons spent $17.5 million on a brand-new farmhouse just outside Los Angeles in Hidden Hills, California.

It sounds like he would like to play in LA.

More likely Cavs would get him than Lakers
As pissed as his ownership is with his crap, no way will they reward him by trading him where he wants to go...
They'd rather shove a poker
