Atlantic Coast Conference (Official Thread)

You kids stay off my lawn!
So, you have your best two teams play the opener... What's left to watch the rest of the ACC season?

Where's the twerp from Greater Baltimore who thought the Maryland TWERPs wre just a player or two away from an NC? They'll be little more than a bug's ass on a Porsch windshield against these two teams.

And finally, how do you watch a game between the Semiholes and the Her- ah-canes? I mean all I can root for is a zero - zaro tie and 22 broken legs (evenly distributed) When I left the guys in dark jerseys were up by ten, but something tells me that the guys in white jerseys with Christian Dior piping were about to win.

And now that I'm on a roll, what the hell is with that Andy Roddick and Mojo commercial? Are they trying to tell us that Mr. 100MPH serve is gey? That tennis is gay? That guys in cowboy hats are gay? The world awaits serious answeres to these and other great puzzlements.

VT was aided by some terribly costly penalties by NC St.

I like BC in the division that has FSU, since they have to go to Boston for that game.

The league got a couple of good wins already:

Clemson over aTm
Georgia Tech at Auburn

And a road win against an average mid-major:

BC at BYU

Miami had some serious problems with the pass rush, but that can be fixed. They have a very good QB who got better as the game progressed. Moss looks like a stud. Miami will be good - but they are 0-1 and I am loving it.

Wright spent half of the game on his back and the other half running for his life and he his a pretty good scrambler.

It took forever for Bobby to pull Weatherford and put in X. Lee. Weatherford only had a couple of ints but some more should have been caught by Miami.

Imagine that. NC St. had problems with penalties. It was probably just the refs giving the game to Va Tech. :roll2:

One of the most penalized teams in college football may have enough talent to beat FSU or Miami, but will probably lose at least 4 games this year, with at least two more of those being due to problems with penalties/discipline.

I have no idea what led to this situation, but I don't want to know. I just want to marvel at the beauty of it all. Not only has Miami scored a touchdown before snapping the ball, but it appears Pitt is offside as well. And none of the officials seem to notice. This might be the most ACC thing that has ever happened on a football field. It's a visual encapsulation of the ACC Coastal.

I learned by watching @ScriptOhio

NC State at VTech postponed after COVID-19 cases

North Carolina State’s season-opener at Virginia Tech was postponed Wednesday from Sept. 12 to Sept. 26 because of a cluster of COVID-19 cases among Wolfpack athletes.

The Atlantic Coast Conference and the two schools announced the delay two days after N.C. State paused athletic activities. The school didn’t specify which programs were impacted by the cluster of 27 positive cases at the time and noted that not all those cases involved athletes.

Both teams are now scheduled to open the season with instate ACC matchups Sept. 19. N.C. State will host Wake Forest, while Virginia Tech will host Virginia.

Just sayin': The ACC schedule is not starting off well.

Northwestern athletic director Jim Phillips has been named the named the new commissioner of the ACC. Phillips replaces John Swofford, who announced earlier this summer that the 2020-21 academic year would be has last running the conference. Phillips will begin his role in February 2021.

"Jim is one of the most talented athletic administrators in the country and uniquely qualified to successfully and seamlessly take over the helm of the ACC," said Syracuse athletic director and ACC Board of Governors chairman Kent Syverud. "Over the course of nearly 13 years, Jim has elevated and cemented Northwestern's position as an outstanding Power 5 athletics program. Northwestern's ascension in the world of intercollegiate athletics is a testament to Jim's vision, leadership and foundational dedication to the success of student-athletes. The ACC is fortunate to have someone of Jim's caliber and integrity lead the conference at this pivotal moment in intercollegiate athletics."

Phillips has been running the Northwestern athletic department since 2008, and he has seen the private university emerge as one of the top athletic powerhouses in the Big Ten West. The Wildcats football team will play in the Big Ten Championship Game on Saturday -- their second trip to the conference title game in three seasons -- and the Northwestern men's basketball team made the NCAA Tournament in 2017 for the first time in program history, also winning its first-ever game in the event.

Phillips was an integral part of the fundraising and construction of the beautiful $270 million athletic facility on the shores of Lake Michigan.
