I couldn't have told you we had a losing record against Penn St. Oh well, that could end soon! I guess many of these records extend prior to the teams acceptance into (or even the existence of) the Big Ten right?

BITB: These are all-time records against teams who are currently member of the conference...yes, they include games before our becoming a conference member.

Good find Mili? Any idea if that kind of info is going to be in the stats engine here? They have alot of stuff at that site, but I couldn't quite do a couple things I wanted to without a lot of legwork on my part.

jlb: Clarity would be the one to ask about the upcoming stats engine, but from what I gather you'll be able to pull just about any kind of info you want from it...

Cool, cuz I tried to pull up the same table you did, but modify the dates. You can do that with a table of all past opponents, but not with just the Big Ten or any single opponent. I wanted to pull up 1925 to present and see what that looked like, (post-Red Grange era) because that's when modern college football began.

What I did was simply copy the resulting HTML code and remove all the non-conference opponents...I didn't get it by asking for only Big Ten opponents.

Oh, that's cool. I don't know how to do that though. You could get to it by going to the Record vs. other conferences link, and then selcting Big Ten. too.

Found that after your post above...guess I should've looked around some more. However, it still shows what I pulled earlier, which is all-time records against teams that are current members of the Big Ten, and not the real all-time records against conference opponents (e.g., the two games against Michigan State prior to 1953 don't count as conference games since they weren't a conference member until 1953).

Good point. They have a great site there, but hopefully the stats engine here will allow us to do more things as they relate to the Buckeyes.

Thats pretty cool, though i wish i could see our records against the teams only when they were in the big ten, id think wed only be under .500 against mich

jimotis: We joined the conference in 1913, and had a gap where we didn't play Michigan from then until 1917, so if you did the query using 1913 as the start date, you would find that we indeed are under .500 only against Michigan...by the way, since we joined the conference, we're 37-45-4 (.453) against Michigan, which is much better than our all-time record against them (37-57-6 (.400)).

Ugh...Seems like I remember all 16 of those losses to Wisconsin, and they all occured at horribly inopportune times and in very bad ways...

So, I guess we've had much better success than it seems sometimes with 50 wins :)
