Video: Pick Central’s Devin Royal follows state title with red hot travel run

One of the hottest players in the 2023 class continued his string of impressive games this weekend as the Nike EYBL made a tour stop in Louisville, Ky.

That player is Pickerington (Ohio) Central forward Devin Royal, who led All-Ohio Red to a 4-1 showing over the weekend in Louisville. Royal saved his best for last as he had 29 points, five rebounds and two blocked shots in an overtime win over CP3 on Monday morning. He was 12 of 16 from the floor and 5 of 7 at the foul line.

The 6-6 Royal had 26 points and five rebounds in a win over The Family. He had 28 points, 10 rebounds and four assists in a win over Alabama Fusion. He had 21 points in a loss to Livon-Fleur De Lis.

Through 13 games of EYBL play this spring, Royal is averaging 18.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 1.2 steals. He is hitting 55.9 percent of his shots from the floor (95 of 170), 27.3 percent of his threes (6 of 22) and 79.4 percent at the foul line (50 of 63).

Above, we have 6-1/2 minutes of highlights of Royal in action from three travel events in April. They included the All-Ohio Nike Cup, an EYBL stop in Indianapolis and the Hensley Run ‘N Slam event in Fort Wayne.

In the video, Royal wears various uniform numbers, including No. 6, No. 8 and No. 12. He plays alongside Ohio State verbal George Washington III as well as two players with OSU offers with wing Dailyn Swain and guard Lawrent Rice.

Royal shows he is comfortable playing in the paint as a power forward or stepping out and hitting threes on the wing. He is adept at attacking the basket for points as well as setting teammates up. And the video also shows he has a knack for getting offensive rebounds, putback dunks and tip-ins of his teammates’ misses.
