'21 KS SF Kendall Brown (Baylor Verbal)

as things stand right now, osu would be over the limit with a 5-player class for 2021, so perhaps it's brown versus branham for the wing spot. per the article below, brown won't be committing or even narrowing his list until the summer. regardless, one recruit's interest in osu could spur the other to commit.

Kendall Brown recaps Ohio State visit, breaks down recruitment
Less than one week after taking an unofficial visit to Kansas for their 91-71 rout of Iowa State, five-star forward Kendall Brown was in Columbus for his second official visit to Ohio State from Feb. 21-23.

“It wasn’t what I expected,” Brown said. “I didn’t know they’d be that big. The fan base is crazy over there and I have a really good relationship with the coaches. It was an overall good experience.”

The 6-foot-7 Brown out of Sunrise (KS) Christian is the No. 5 small forward and the No. 16 overall player in the Class of ’21 per 247Sports.com.

“They plan on using me all over the place as a big guard, initiate the offense, get people involved with my versatility and my passing ability,” Brown said on the Buckeyes.

i'm sure this means absolutely nothing, but i still think the timing is funny.

brown took an unofficial to marquette yesterday for the seton hall game, which they lost. brown sat with recruits and some players' families. among the players' families was markus howard's parents. during the game, a couple marquette fans began heckling and yelling at howard's parents, which is rather odd since howard scored 37. anyway, police ended up escorting the fans from the arena.

every fanbase has their idiots and, again, i'm sure it means nothing, but brown posted this an hour after the game:

That is extremely interesting. I wonder if Holtmann would accept his commitment if he would want to pull the trigger. It might put Holtmann on the spot a little bit if he does not know what Branham is going to do. I would hate to lose Branham but if Brown wants to commit I guess I would not hold him back and thank the Marquette fans.

i can't imagine ho1tmann passing on a 5-star for a maybe/probably. malaki is homegrown, but a bird in the hand and all that. my guess is that if the staff wanted branham that much over brown, they might give branham a heads up if they felt that brown's commitment was impending. doubt it will come to that, though. at least not anytime soon. as brown recently stated, his plan is to narrow the list in the summer and announce sometime before next season. plans often change, however, so who knows.

If you've offered a top 20 kid and he wants to commit, you 100% take that commit, no questions asked.

FWIW, we currently have no room for any more '21 recruits unless there are departures. I think we can probably assume there might be one or more by then, but not sure who it would be. Right now the most likely would be Carton which would make adding another PG paramount as Meechie is more of a scoring guard and as a frosh he isn't going to be ready to play point in the B1G.

Guy fom Buckeye Scoop, Mick Walker, thinks Branham AND Brown are a definite possibility. Compares getting both to hitting a walkoff shot in the bottom of the 9th (not sure why he used a baseball analogy in a hoop recruiting article, but okay).
