Think this staff has a little bit of a knack for developing players?

Antonio Smith - Walk on to All Big 10 corner and Thorpe Award finalist.
James Laurinaitis - Almost an afterthought during recruiting, two years later in the final three for the Butkus award and first team All Big 10 as a true sophomore.
Troy Smith - The last player brought in his recruiting class. Athlete. Now the favorite to win the Heisman.

I wonder why the media just doesn't like Pittman. I actually agree with him being second team(Hart and Hill should be 1st team) but he just doesn't get much respect. Occasionally during a game one of the announcers will say he's an unsung hero but that's about it.

Good to see all those Buckeyes selected.

Easy, he's overshadowed by at least three players on his own offense. It's OSU's passing game that drives the team. Can only talk about so many guys from one team before you get accused of favoritism. And he's only the third best RB in the conference (which is no insult, he's in great company) but they overshadow him too.

Re: DAVE McCLAIN COACH OF THE YEAR:Bret Bielema, Wisconsin

Bielema did a very good job this year (Wisconsin ended up 11-1 losing only to Michigan) and he should have finished 2nd in the voting.

Jim Tressel got "hosed" on this one. :smash:

Pittman just doesn't have "it." He's a jack of all trades, master of none. It isn't anymore complicated than that.

Nobody cares about a 20 carry, 100 yard back with wicked pass protection skillz.

Unless he rips off Steve Slaton-esque 50 yarders with more frequency than once or twice a season, or displays a little more shake-n-bake and stops allowing defenders to get so many shots on him, he will never be appreciated for the workhorse he is. Breaking tackles isn't sexy for highlight reels, eluding them completely is.

If Pittman left this year, his OSU career highlight film would consist of four plays: his three long runs against Minnesota, Notre Dame, and Michigan, and his TD against Michigan in '05.

I bet a million dollars LLLLLoyd was the one who didn't vote for Troy. Honestly who doesn't vote the Heisman trophy winner as 1st team all-conference??? What an idiot.
The media is screwed up (ya, big shocker)... Troy is the unanimous Offensive POY but is not the unanimous 1st team QB?

Actually Cornerback I'd bet my bottom dollar it was John L Smith - though he voted for Brady Quinn :wink2:

What about his Illinois TD last year- knocks a would-be tackler into next week, runs in for 6?
