Tight end Ben Koyack (Oil City, Pa.) was among four very talented Class of 2011 prospects who stood out. Koyack looks even bigger than his listed size of 6-foot-5 and 228 pounds. He does not have great speed, but he looked fast enough in drills and showed the ability to catch the ball with a defender draped all over him. Koyack will be one of the country's top tight ends in 2011.

Will Tressel steal another?
Ohio State head coach Jim Tressel has had great success recruiting the state of Pennsylvania in recent years. Tressel has signed multiple top prospects from the Keystone State in each of the last two years, including Terrelle Pryor.

Tressel may do it again next season as sophomore tight end Ben Koyack (Oil City, Pa.) is high on the Buckeyes. The 6-5, 228-pounder already has over a dozen scholarship offers including Penn State, Pitt, Florida, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, Wisconsin, Boston College, Maryland and North Carolina State.

At the conclusion of the camp on Saturday, Koyack said his top four choices are Penn State, Pitt, Ohio State and West Virginia. Koyack recently visited OSU and a Buckeyes offer may not be far off. The buzz from Koyack and those with him on Saturday was that an Ohio State offer would put the Buckeyes at the top of the star tight end's list.

One of the country's top class of 2011 tight end prospects, Oil City, Pa., star Ben Koyack, attended the Buckeyes' camp on Sunday. Koyack makes no secret he is very highly considering Ohio State. And after hearing Jim Tressel say a number of good things, Koyack is very hopeful he will soon be receiving a scholarship offer from the Buckeye boss.

Koyack: Ohio State vs Penn State?
Posted by Bill Kurelic on Jun 17, 2009 at 8:27 am

Rising junior tight end Ben Koyack from Oil City, Pa., was in Columbus on Sunday for the Ohio State Advanced Camp. Koyack is one of the country's top class of 2011 tight end prospects.

The 6-foot-5 and 230-pound Koyack has 18 scholarship offers including Penn State, Pitt and Florida.

Koyack ran the 40-yard dash in 4.59 seconds at West Virginia's camp. At Notre Dame he ran a 4.61. However, Koyack was coming off a busy few days, had tired legs and did not run as well at Ohio State. He was timed in the 40-yard dash at 4.9 seconds at OSU. But Koyack did have a good shuttle time at Ohio State, 4.3 seconds, and Jim Tressel told him he looked fast at the Buckeyes' camp.

Koyack is set to visit Penn State on Thursday and the Nittany Lions will put the full-court press on in hopes of landing the star tight end.

Koyack leaves no doubt about his strong interest in Ohio State. It will be interesting to see if the Buckeyes soon offer, as well as track what happens with Koyack's visit to Penn State tomorrow.

Tight end Ben Koyack (Oil City/Pa), one of the top rising juniors in the Keystone State, is set to visit Penn State today. The 6-foot-5 and 228-pound Koyack attended Ohio State's camp on Sunday and his decision could come down to the Nittany Lions or Buckeyes.

Today's trip to Happy Valley will mark the second time Koyack has been to Penn State in less than two months. He attended the Nike Football Training Camp at Penn State on May 2.

"I'm visiting with my parents and my coach (Ray Beers)," Koyack said. "As far as I know I'm going to get a tour of the campus and meet with Coach (Joe) Paterno."

Koyack's top four choices are Penn State, Ohio State, Pitt and West Virginia, and all but the Buckeyes have offered. Koyack says the Nittany Lions and Buckeyes are tied for his top spot. In addition to today's Penn State visit, Koyack plans to attend West Virginia's camp on Sunday.

Oil City heritage

My parents were both born and raised in Oil City, PA. I used to go there all the time in my youth to visit grandparents and cousins. My parents moved to Ohio after they married to get jobs in their degreed fields.

I luv Oil City. Great Polish Catholic town in the Allegheny mountains.

Would love to see Ben Koyack in a Buckeye uniform for 4-5 years.
Good luck Ben!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Junior tight end meets with Paterno

Tight end Ben Koyack (Oil City, Pa.) visited Penn State on Thursday as scheduled. The 6-5, 230-pounder is one of the country's top junior tight end prospects.

"I went with my mom, my dad and coach (Ray) Beers and his wife," Koyack said when asked about his PSU visit. "We got a tour of the (football) office and the campus. I had already seen the football facilities."

Koyack met with Joe Paterno before leaving State College.

"I talked to coach (Mike) McQueary and Joe Pa," Koyack said. "It went pretty good. They said they want me to go there. They said they are looking forward to me committing sometime in the near future."

On Monday the Buckeyes offered a scholarship to Oil City, Pa., tight end Ben Koyack, one of the top rising juniors in Big Ten country. Within minutes of the offer Bucknuts.com broke the news with a premium story.

Koyack had been waiting and hoping for an offer from the Bucks. Now that he has the offer, the hard part might be at hand.

Koyack really likes Ohio State, but he also likes Penn State as does his father. The Koyack's will again visit Ohio State, probably for the OSU-USC game.

The offer from the Bucks is going to make for a tough decision for the star tight end.

The 6-foot-5 and 230-pound Koyack, who attended Ohio State?s Advanced Camp on Sunday, June 14, caught 48 passes during his sophomore season and scored 10 times.
