Scouting Obviously having benefitted from being the son of former NBAer and Oregon Duck Stan Love, Kevin is so advanced in his post moves he'd start for most Pac-10 schools right now. Physically he looks like he could still develop, with a good body and square shoulders. If he continues to grow and his athleticism continues to improve, he might not play college basketball. A top ten national player for 2007. SOPH Attended Nike Elite Camp and All-American Camp. Distinguished himself against top national competition. Injured knee and missed most of his sophomore season. FR Probably the most skilled big man on the west coast regardless of class, which is really something to say for a freshman prospect.

Listed as the #3 overall prospect behind Beasley and Mayo for the 2007 class. This kid looks like a beast and I would love to have him as part of our class next year. His early list includes: Arizona, UConn, Duke, Kansas, UNC, Ohio State, UCLA, Washington, and Oregon.

Oden owned him over the summer. I think this is also the kid who got his AAU deal with Nike yanked after he decided to attend the Reebok ABCD camp. He really got screwed when he got kicked off his Nike-sponsored AAU team just because he went to the Reebok camp.

bn44820 hadn't created a thread on Love yet mainly because there does not seem to be much interest from OSU's end. With Kosta and Dallas likely to be a part of the 2007 class, and the staff also interested in guys like Sanders, I don't know if there is any room for Love.

As Wadc has mentioned previously, I don't see the mutual interest at this point and I don't see Love really giving us much serious thought right now, but with that said, he is listing Ohio State and Scout.com also lists an offer. Rivals.com does not list Ohio State or a offer.

Realistically, this prospect will most likely stay out west.

Kyle Lamb is reporting that OSU has indeed offered Kevin Love. Arizona, UCLA, and North Carolina are the teams to beat for his services.

Gotta love Matta for going after the big guns!

We offered Love? Man, I love Matta. He's going after the best of the best, no matter where they're from. Spectacular!

The offer to Love recently came down, and they are trying to get involved. He would be the heir apparent to Oden. I think they beat some pretty big programs to the punch with an offer, which will help. I hear the same three-- Arizona, UCLA and North Carolina as the teams to beat for now.
I will change the thread title..........I still feel he stays out west.

From the Arizona site.....Love is a key target for them. They indicate that Love's dream school is Duke, but that Duke is not recruiting him possibly for his desire to get to the NBA early or his past knee problems. The article indicates that UCLA is the team to beat. No mention of OSU.

Love is down to Duke, North Carolina and UCLA at this point, but there is a chance that tOSU could come back into the picture....

LAKE OSWEGO — Lake Oswego’s Kevin Love has narrowed his choice of colleges to three.

“It’s UCLA, Duke and North Carolina,” says the junior All-American, one of the nation’s most coveted prep basketball players.

Is one of the three ahead of the other two on his list?

“Not really,” he says. “They’re all right there. I’d like to hear a little more from Duke, but North Carolina and UCLA are pretty much at the top right now. In the next year, a couple more could open up, but not many. Ohio State or Kansas could come up. You never know.”

Love says Duke, North Carolina and UCLA have offered scholarships, “but I’ve had the most interest from UCLA and Duke.”

UCLA coach Ben Howland has been perhaps Love’s most avid suitor.

Love’s father, former NBA player Stan Love, grew up in Southern California.
“I was born there, and I have a lot of family there,” Kevin Love says.

“North Carolina is also intriguing to me because of Coach (Roy) Williams, the players who have gone there and the tradition — it’s really amazing. Duke has produced so many pros, and Coach K (Mike Krzyzewski) — you really can’t do any better.”

Love isn’t sure when he will make a decision, but he can’t sign a letter of intent until next November.

“It could be tomorrow; it could be a year from now,” Love says of when he will verbally commit. “I just have to sit down with my family and close friends and make a decision.”

The Love family has patched up its differences with Nike Inc. after the much-celebrated flap in which the sporting apparel and shoe giant balked at him attending a Reebok summer camp. Nike outfits Lake Oswego’s team with its basketball gear, and Love is wearing Nike shoes.

“Our relationship was never really torn apart,” Love says. “It was shaken, but now we have everything back together. I love Nike, I love Reebok, I love Adidas — they’re all great. I’m committed to attending Reebok’s ABCD camp next summer, but I’m going to Nike-sponsored events, too. You have to take it in stride and see what happens next.”
