From the ND site...in 2004, Griffin had eight touchdowns of 40 or more yards called back due to penalty. Also, he was rated the best running back at the 2004 Columbus Nike combine. He was honorable mention all-state and first team Ohio Capital Conference. He says he ran a 4.37 at the OSU camp last year.

Not gonna be an OSU recruit because of his size (most likely), but should note that he's not gonna put up HUGE numbers in HS because of the offense in which he plays. Pentello is going to be a Junior at QB this year for South. Threw for over 3,000 yards as a Soph. Will be interesting to see who recruits Griffin when he can't really showcase his talents because of the offense.

The fact that Pentello's father is the coach certainly won't hurt Rocco...Elijah is probably going to get a look from some B10 schools if he can add some weight. But as you said, unless he has a great camp, he probably won't be an OSU recruit.

Elijah is receiving attention from a number of schools and is wide open at this point. He has already visited Kent State, Notre Dame, and Tennessee. During the spring he plans to make rounds to Indiana, Illinois, Notre Dame, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and Syracuse. Of course he will attend tOSU's spring game and summer camp.

From Rivals Top 100:

Schools that have shown the most interest are michigan state, Miami of Ohio, Indiana, and the rest of the MAC. Says he will play where he fits into the system and will probably go to a Michigan State game, Miami of Ohio game, and a couple of MAC games. No mention of Ohio State

Going to see Elijah and Rocco Pentello play tonight at Toledo Whitmer. Unfortunately, I left my digital camera at home in Westerville or else I'd take some pictures of these guys in action. However, I'll have a small report on these guys either tonight after the game or tomorrow. I'll see these guys again next week at Crew Stadium for the North/South game, so I'll remember to bring my camera with me next time.

Westerville South beat Toledo Whitmer 38-0.

Elijah Griffin might be small, but he's definetly not small on talent. Definetly was THE playmaker on that field out of both of those teams. They run him right up the middle, he hits that hole hard and fast, breaks tackle after tackle, and runs straight for the end zone. He did not get caught from behind all night either. His tackle-breaking ability surprised me, as he's not a very tall guy, but MAN is he strong. Whitmer had no answer for him, and they had to get two players to pull him down every play. South pulled both Griffin and Pentello midway through the 3rd quarter. No clue on any official yards, but Elijah had two long TD runs taken back due to stupid holding calls. He's the real deal- looks like a smaller version of Brandon Joe, and just as impressive. Word was that Univ of Toledo head coach Tom Amstutz was in attendance tonight, though I didn't see him. If he doesn't get attention from the major schools, I'm sure Toledo will take him along with the other WR's they've taken from South.

Pentello played well. On one particular play, Rocco threw a bomb to a receiver with a tight spiral a good 40 yards downfield, overthrowing him by about 2 yards. The kid can throw, and he's got a good arm. He only played offense the entire night, so no idea how he plays as a DB. He started to limp noticeably during the middle of the 3rd quarter, and after Pentello hit Bell 30-40 yards over the middle for a TD, he was done for the night. Good scrambling ability.

South's wide receivers were impressive tonight too. Their linebackers were very fast to the ball, and #5 had the hardest hit I've ever seen in a high school game. The hit echoed in the stadium, and the other guy couldn't get to his feet afterwards. Also of note, Andy Katzenmoyer is a coach on the team now. He was in the press box for the game up until the last 5 minutes when he came onto the sidelines. Still a really big guy, and doesn't look like he's changed too much.

I'm kicking myself in the face for not getting some good pics of Elijah, Rocco, and Big Kat tonight. You'll see me with it next Thursday at Crew Stadium though, that's for sure!
