Game Thread #1 tOSU at Illinois, Sat. Oct. 11th, 12 pm ET, FOX

For anyone with gray in their beards/head, one might recollect that in the Juice Williams (?) era, the Illini always seemed to give the Buckeyes fits. They had some inopportune wins against us, in the few times that there were some athletes in their colors. Would suggest that this might be one...

2026 CA DL Khary Wilder is a Buckeye!!!

Thanks pnuts. Was wondering, and with the ease with players saying 'f*** it, I'm outa here', was hopeful that this young talent will grit his teeth and get after it in scarlet & gray. Coaches gotta whip some players, but do it in a gentle, constructive way. While not bruising their egos, etc...

What are you currently watching on TV?

Network TV has several offerings that my wife and I both agree on. And also watch an 8 or so series on a steaming service. Hollywood has re-arranged it's 'new shows' from start of fall, to mid-fall and beyond, so spend a bit of time deleting the reruns....

    Last movie you saw?

In my area, Covid has killed the movie theaters. That and streaming such as Netflix. In town, only one, the other two are boarded up. As a retiree, can go to the matinees (which are the last two times wifey and I went), so less than ten folk in theater, so no cell phones ringing or lighting...

    The Ryder Cup

Didn't watch the singles Sunday (which are the US's best event), but appears that our guys gave it the 'All-American' try. But the hole had been dug too deep to climb out of. Talking smack in golf has always been part of the experience, but somehow the arbitrary line has been crossed...

    Thee Ohio State University News

Ord, at the opening meeting in the football stadium back in 1967, the Chancellor said 'look to your right, and look to your left. At graduation time, two of you won't be there'. And so it was. Not certain what the drop-out rate was, but somehow didn't include me.

What book are you currently reading, or recommend?

Recollect reading Ian Fleming's stuff (007) in junior high. At the time, these books were considered somewhat pornographic. Hard to get, so were traded amongst us. Very titillating reads for the 60's. Couldn't get enough. Compared to the Romance novels of today, 007 doesn't even raise the...

    2026 tOSU Recruiting Discussion

NIL and Xfer portal means that the door isn't closed no matter how long, am guessing. Caleb and Julian both were 'close' to committing to the Buckeyes, but when Saban retired, they both ran, not walked into the Buckeyes locker room. Not that I'd know, but when being recruited, one's decision...

    tOSU Recruiting Discussion

Saw somewhere that looking at the NFL 'players of the year', Buckeyes littered that statistic in a big way. And looking at how Emeka is doing this year for a middle-of-the-road team is truly heartening. Keep it up guys. Am fairly certain that there's a power-point slide showing Buckeyes doing...

2026 GA OL Jared'Jay Doughty (Alabama Verbal)

Well, if Bama is 'mom's dream' then throwing a bigger bag of cash at him might not do the trick.

2027 OH WR Jamier Brown is a Buckeye!!!

Am more than certain that when Hartline sits down with a good/great WR recruit, he praises his receiving skills, but also adds that 'at tOSU, no WR sees the field unless they downfield block' or somesuch admonishment. Seems like Jamier took that to heart in post #130. Great start to his...

2026 CA DL Khary Wilder is a Buckeye!!!

Well, they're all 'Silver Bullets' to me, whatever their #'s or names. Actually, believe it was one of the players that used that nickname during an interview. Also note that most of the players are home-grown, as in from freshman recruiting to playing as a junior/senior. Couple of them are...

    Ohio State Women's Basketball (2023-24 B1G CHAMPS)

Just a bump trying to get some WBB news, pretty much about anything.

2026 AZ OL Aaron Thomas (Minnesota Verbal)

Would always believe that Dad's team would have a certain ring to it. Not certain what being a legacy would do, as one still has to make the tackles, blocks etc. to get on the field. Do know that when I went to tOSU for my MBA, my Dad, a 3 degree tOSU legacy, said 'I finally got one of my boys...

2026 OH CB Phillip Johnson (PWO Verbal Offer?)

Silly thought, but wasn't his build/weight etc just about that of Sonny Styles when he came out of Pickerington?

2026 FL LB Jacob Curry (Oklahoma Verbal)

True dat. And then have Coach Mick show his 'before and after' pictures of Steel and Garrett, as being chiseled hunks of marble. Note: there are plenty of other Buckeyes that have gone through a marvelous transformation with Coach Mick. But yeah, can see JL humbly leading the recruit through...

2026 CA DL Khary Wilder is a Buckeye!!!

Am still amazed/amused how the big name talent from last year (certainly am not knocking), is being upstaged by the self-proclaimed 'no names' on tOSU's DL, and the tremendous jump in production in the trenches. Once Eddrick comes around, we'll graduate another 4 DL to the pros? Was...

'26 OH SF Anthony Thompson is a Buckeye!!!

Script, try as I might, cannot disagree with your thoughts. Only codicil might add, is that football has the track record, whereas the basketball team certainly does not. Soooo, my thoughts are to overpay for one of these guys to entice him to bring his skills to C'bus. Actually would need...

'26 OH SF Anthony Thompson is a Buckeye!!!

Seems like we lose the 5* guys to the bluebloods everytime. Would love to see some NIL spread to BBall, and specifically to these vagabond 5*s. Given the history of several one-and-done now NBA players, would think that more would come our way, given coaches utilizing their talents early...

2026 FL LB Jacob Curry (Oklahoma Verbal)

Silly question. Does JL show this recruit around, as in touring the Woody trophy room, where he points out his (among other) LB trophies, awards etc? He's not quite Katzenmoyer size, but Arvell notwithstanding, seems like smaller, lighter, quicker LBs are the medium now.
