Newman is the type of player you really can't have too many of. High volume efficient shooter with decent athleticism is at worst a role player. If we end up with a fourth spot, I would love to have him.
Waiting to get the word, but I imagine even if he had a perfect visit he will at least go to Mizzou next week before he decides.
Also a recruit saying he enjoyed a visit is standard so really would need a new announcement or insider info.
I agree if the staff was looking to take 4 this class then they would have to commit now with Harvey or any of the others guard prospects, but instead we are slow playing/ not recruiting. The only possible chance of the forth now is if we get EJ in fall and for some reason Newman hangs on till...

I was more or less just listing out players, rather than doing a legitimate depth chart, to just get a better understanding of how our roster is filled out positionally. I generally believe Carton, EJ, Gaffney are all going to play quite a bit in their respective freshman years.
It's a good question. What will our depth chart look like 2019 assuming no transfers?
Carton/Walker
Luther/Duane/Jallow
Andre/Gaffney/Ahrens
Young/Ledee/EJ
Wesson/Potter
Honestly, when I list it out like this, I really think we are due for a few transfers.
"Gaffney made perhaps the biggest jump of any of the players we've watched extensively from last summer to now, going from being a skinny, raw and very limited player at last year's Adidas Nations camp to a taller, stronger and far more versatile player just a year later.
Gaffney has big hands...
Just a guess, but I imagine Newman ends up at IU and Franklin at Purdue. IU is reeling for a guard right now and Purdue is likely to grab Franklin soon.
Oh yes, forgot to include that Newman visited, but I believe Adam Jardy tipped that off already. Still think all of this is academic with EJ visiting at the end of the month.

Comments on Alonzo's development, but I do not have ESPN Insider.
