The Illinois source who has generally been correct about EJ so far said OSU leads, but still thinks there is a chance for Illinois to catch up. 10 days or less until his commitment.
One thing I like about following basketball vs football is the smaller fanbase we have. With a smaller fanbase we seem to have more reasonable conversation and we tend to avoid the crazies that come with success.
Illinois fans are not confident. They all seem to say the visit is not going too great.
EDIT: Also wanted to add the Rivals writer for Mizzou is predicting EJ to OSU.
I think it is more than fair to be pessimistic on blue blood recruiting battles until we win one. Obviously, I am very high on our recruiting right now, but we were battling Michigan and IU for Carton not Kansas and UK. Furthermore, I do not think we need to win those battles to be successful.
I hate to question you Nomatta, but are you basing that opinion off this article (https://basketballrecruiting.rivals.com/news/rivals-roundtable-undervalued-commits-2019-standouts-visits)? Because if so I do not believe Bossi is claiming to know anything but rather reasoning that based off opinion.
Also wanted to add that I appreciate your effort to drive conversation Nomatta. With such a small fanbase following basketball year round, it takes someone to ignite activity. Thanks.
I expect this to be cleared up within a week after the Illinois visit. I still feel that OSU is the favorite with an unclear school at 2 (which is a good sign). With all that said I wish we kept recruiting Zach Harvey just in case Newman does not work out either.
According to a poster on an Illinois forum, Holtmann made a home visit with Liddell Monday night. Plans to speed up the process and cut a couple schools.
