I don't think it's sour grapes per say, but I think there were likely hurt feelings seeing the numbers their big name transfers were bringing in when he has been there longer. An issue many teams have faced. I can't imagine what it took to bring in Walter Nolen for a year, but I'm sure it rubbed...
I don't watch much ESPN anymore, but I remember watching PTO with Kornheiser and Wilbon and appreciating the conversation, actually listening and responding, and no shouting (other than occasional spurts from Wilbon).
Then ESPN pushed out Stephen A Smith, Skip Bayless, McAfee, Shannon Sharpe...
He may want to win, but he also wants 1.75 million...I realize typing that out that this feels like NFL free agency and I puked in my mouth a little.
He is an ultra competitor, I won't argue that, but he has been troublesome most of the season for Ole Miss. This is a kid that Lane begged...
They'll miss the talent, not the person. I don't believe Ole Miss is fighting to keep him either, which is saying something....because if Ole Miss doesn't want to deal with you, yikes.
I will say, the idea of the 3-3-5 the way Knowles wants it....with a LB set of Hicks/Simon/Styles....oh baby. That really gives you flexibility with the Jack. The ability to float Styles anywhere you want lets you disguise so many looks.
Now, that all requires LJsr to play along because you'll...
Cleveland Heights has a sneaky good team, led by former NFL player Mac Stephens who is a great fit there.
D1 R1 is a meat grinder with Ed's, Iggy, Mentor, etc.
With Davis and Caesar returning next year, looking forward to them maybe taking that next step in '24.
He had snapping issues in the Auburn game as well.
I do think this was a mental issue, which a change in scenery can certainly fix. If those snaps were better, I highly doubt he's transferring.
Would gladly, gladly take Seth in to OSU.
Nashville, gets to punt a ton, no fans bothering him, ends up with his undergrad from OSU and grad from Vandy...and has a cool accent? The man is winning at life. Next you're gonna tell me he has a hot wife too.
You're looking at one year on one site that gives points to recruiters for quantity and based off of their ratings....
By this logic, you believe Donovan Raiola, Terry Smith, Phil Trautwein, Junior Adams and Tim Walton are all better recruiters than Hartline?!
Come on man....dude just held off...
How many sure things are there in the coaching world? Just because someone hasn't shown it yet, doesn't mean they don't have it yet. And when you're the best recruiter in the country, that lends you some leeway in the other areas. He's not just a good recruiter....he's the best.
Is a short WR...
I think plenty would - many schools prefer their HC to not call plays and to act as CEO. We obviously know Hartline can recruit, and I would imagine he'd be able to mingle and fundraise with the best of them (one of the many important HC duties).
The idea that a HC needs to be a great play...
I hear you, and I don't fault that line of thinking. My main concern is if someone is brought in to call plays, I think you're saying goodbye to Hartline. He's not going to want to be passed over. Your recruiting takes a hit and a good chunk of players likely follow him out the door to his next...
I would be disappointed if Day left without ever seeing how well this team could be with someone else calling plays.
I don't think we need a massive overhaul; let Hartline call plays, edit the position coaches/ST coordinator and reload (and pray Will Howard joins).
Lastly, I wonder how LJsr...
Going home and likely starting with Grayson McCall as your QB and a very good coach in Dave Doeren, that's attractive. NC State has been super steady and just missed out on the ACC title game despite their starter getting hurt and backup deciding he was done after he hit his 4 games
Had no idea we had another Aussie punter in the wings, so there's that.
This is certainly very odd though....mad Parker is leaving? Mad Parker is staying? Parking because mad?
