That is true, but D2 is deep, deep, deep this year. Avon, Walsh (who already beat Hoban this year), Massillon, Anderson and so many more. D2 is consistently the most interesting come playoff time. I will say that Hoban's somewhat recent 20-0 win over Glenville was very dominant and impressive.
Never seen D1 and every region be such a toss up as it is this year. There is no team you can call a true favorite anywhere among them. Should make for a very fun and chaotic first round....I could see a 1/16 upset with Mentor (1) vs. St. Ignatius (16). They played early this season and Mentor...
I'm sure somewhere in the 97 pages it has been hit on, but I don't understand continuing to throw unproven players out there when they continue to struggle. There are a myriad of reasons why someone is struggling, but if Zen is getting destroyed....take him out. Day's reasoning of wanting him to...
A small amount of final regular season games tonight - playoff field should be set and brackets released tomorrow.
The following link is the best pre-release rankings in case you're curious before time - https://joeeitel.com/hsfoot/
Look, as a Guardians fan, I can tell you that Tito has a hard-on for Myles Straw. You all need a stud CF like him, so sounds like it's time to make a trade....
Zipper, were you on the old Scout forums? That name sounds familiar.
And I think he can - he's probably below average, but maybe Fry catches some time there too? Fry got 20 games there this year, so seems like a possibility.
This all hinges on my dream that we trade Naylor and a bullpen...
Good question - everyone points to the partial UCL tear in '23, but that doesn't require surgery. I thought it did, so that's on me too. Most likely it's mechanical, which when you're 6'5 can be difficult to regain. His walks have skyrocketed while his K rate has only minimally gone down, and I...
@mattynokes - I like Kayfus but I can't get my hopes too high until I see him put up a similar year in '25. He certainly is interesting, and a 1B that can hit for 6 triples doesn't happen too often. That SO/BB rate really changed when he made the jump to AA, going from 33 SO/23 BB in A to 84...
We had a helluva healthy run while it lasted - just hope he's back for Indiana (never thought I'd say that). Not sure Nebraska, Penn State, Purdue, or NW have an offensive threat enough to make his absence cost us. I am already puking in my mouth a bit at the thought of not rotating our DL...
Zack Meisel already reporting there is mutual interest with Bieber, Boyd, Cobb, and Hedges. I'm a bit surprised, but certainly not upset, at the Cobb news. I also think Hedges being back another year and learning from Vogt could see him make a similar transition into managing pretty early after...
I am pretty stoked already, even if the budget doesn't change they have the ability to make plenty of moves and continue to get better.
Interested in seeing how they leverage this bullpen...Clase, Gaddis, Smith, Herrin, Morgan, Walters, Avila, Sabrowski would fill up your pen already next...
Right - when you're playing Western Michigan at home, it's easy to 'mix it up'. Playing Oregon on the road and you're down late in the 2nd half, those tendencies poke their nasty heads.
This is an aside, so mods feel free to move, but I really don't think we need to go young with positional coaches, especially on the line. I look at a guy like Brian Callahan with Minnesota, who is 55'ish, and how he has consistently developed top tier OL...John Michael Schmitz, Faalele...
I think they tried to get a successor on staff this off-season but failed....I'd expect they try again after the season, with Jason Taylor at the top of their list. Buddha Williams is another name to keep an eye on.
I think there are some coaching studs in their 40's who have experience that will make the jump to major P5s in the very near future....Bob Chesney and Jon Sumrall come to mind. That said, I'm not remotely close to even considering wanting Day gone. He's made the changes we wanted, i.e. hire a...
They didn't need to play zone - but I also think the Burke issue goes hand in hand with not creating pressure. At the same time, we need to give kudos to Oregon's OL that has improved steadily all year, and their WRs that can make plays. Can't expect DBs to survive in coverage for 5 seconds when...
Yep, I thought given the injuries we had the OL really played very well and wasn't the cause of any of our issues.
Only bummer with the line was the 3 false starts on that one first half drive - it's either unprepared or undisciplined, but it's one or the other....I guess it could be both...I...
Really believed in the 2nd half we'd make adjustments and create some turnovers against a QB that threw 3 picks in 2 weeks. You have players like Styles and Downs so that you can disguise pressure but yet we continued to sit back in zone hoping the offense would save the day. Would have liked to...
