We just watched Northwestern play OSU at Wrigley Field where they grew grass over the diamond for (1) game.
There’s no reason OSU can’t grow a grass field for the football season and move any events at the Horsheshoe to an indoor venue at that time of year.
And to be perfectly frank, it’s...
The challenge, IMO, is Indiana has one of the most unique defensive fronts in college football. Lot of odd sets and window dressing that easily confuses offensive lines.
So not great timing with the injury to Seth.
But we’ve got the talent and ability to run the ball. IMO, this is a game...
I think OSU absolutely needs to go to grass and it likely already is a negative recruiting pitch from SEC teams.
But artificial turf is correlated more to knee injuries than Achilles. Also, nearly every major college team uses artificial turf for practice (indoor facilities).
I don’t think...
I hope Zen can make a move next year, but Zen really isn’t in the mix at moment unless we have (2) significant injuries on O-line.
They’re all in on a few lineups (this includes the injury to Seth) where Zen is always option B.
They like how they’re running the football and attribute a lot of...
I like to look at size on interior…..to be honest, it’s gonna be Montgomery or Siereveld…I’m biased towards shorter guys on interior bc of leverage.
That said, Sierveld is listed as 6’5” and 320 lbs
Montgomery at 6’5” 310 lbs.
So they are both a bit taller at OG than maybe you’d want, which...
Thankfully it’ll be relatively seamless going to Hinzman….curious to see if they go Luke Montgomery at guard. I get the assumption it’ll be Sieverfield but Montgomery has played all OG this year, and came in as an elite 5*. Personally, I’ll take whoever the coaching staff believes helps the...
Howard has underperformed my expectations to be honest….a bit too turnover prone, not as explosive in run game as I was hoping for, and his arm talent lacks.
That said…..it’s obvious OSU is protecting him at nearly every cost to keep him healthy. An injury to Will ruins the season bc we do not...
To protect Howard some I'd love to see a few direct snaps to Henderson or Judkins with other lined up at RB next to them.....I would NOT have them make any zone reads, but would certainly have some set plays designed to utilize their speed and physicality and take some hits away from Howard. In...
They need to run to set up the pass and that’s OK…..we’re so used to elite passing teams and a different mindset when it comes to throwing the ball.
You’re correct about pass protection…..the best thing we can do to help the offensive line is grind teams out early with the run to set up play...
He struggles in space at the second level….he struggles when he’s pulling at initiating and maintaining contact.
Just seems to lack an awareness in space.
Good news is I think the type of offense we want to run after seeing the success against PSU should play into his style a little better….
Not sure if it’s been brought up, but one upside to the new offensive line arrangement is the ability to get leverage in the run game.
Everyone remembers the year we started started NPF, Paris Johnson, Wypler, Munford, Dawand Jones…..
Our pass protection was elite but ability to run ball was...
Kinda confusing….we’re on an OSU message board, right? Should we discuss knitting techniques instead? Perhaps a conversation about our favorite teas?? It’s something I keep semi-private, but I really enjoy day trading. Perhaps we discuss stocks….??
I’m probably miserable bc I put way too much effort into being an OSU fan.
I love the Buckeyes with all my heart…and find every excuse to watch them when I can (even picking the Buckeyes over family events).
You’re right….i should care less. If we can just go back to being John Cooper it’s...
I can't agree with this, and I'll cite Reid Fragel as an example again, here. OSU has plenty of talent on this roster to do some patchwork over the Simmons injury. The issue, IMO, is there isn't belief right now.....Meyer ingrained a toughness into OSU's offensive line that is severely lacking...
I'd strongly disagree. We started exceptionally slow against Akron. We were awful in the first half against Marshall. Even the Michigan State game had some underlying concerns. Offensively we were average against Iowa.
Oregon should've been a "W" but too many mental mistakes to overcome...
No…..except for flashes here and there, it was completely underwhelming….
It’s all about one on one match-ups for them rather than a team goal…..which is a terrible way to play football as a team. If the defensive line has a certain call on, the DB’s need to be on that page. They should all...
This is the problem though.
He was striking the right balance in previous years, but Michigan was kinda the boogeyman…..why? Bc Michigan was taking 5th and 6th year transfers clinging to their college years instead of wasting away on a practice squad or getting cut by NFL squad. But Michigans...
I like this comparison bc it also hinges on the kids being brought in.
We all want first rd talent coming in as 5 stars. You’d be idiotic not to want that.
But OSU’s #1 recruiting pitch under Day has been NFL development. And he delivers on it.
But the focus is not national titles. And...
