I actually live in New Haven. If you aren't familiar with what New Haven style pizza is, the best way I can describe it as NY Style pizza that is baked in charcoal ovens. Sounds a bit strange, but it is really out of this world good.

Sally's is good, but I've got to say, it's old school. If you aren't from the New Haven establishment (in other words, if they don't recognize you when you walk in), you'll get treated like shit as a customer when you dine in. It's just a turn off for us. Their pizza is very good, but I can't say it's any better than Pepe's Apizza, which is right down the street. If you go to Sally's, get several of the small pies. For whatever reason, they are better that way. I'm also not a huge fan of the white sauce clam pies. They seem kind of dry to me, but others swear by them. On the other hand, the red sauce pies in New Haven are, quite frankly, the best pizzas I've ever had--and I've eaten at several of the classic New York and Chicago stops, as well as some well-regarded stops in other big cities like DC.

Pepe's is excellent, as is Sally's if you don't mind being ignored. But my vote would go to Modern Apizza, which I believe was started by a former employee of either Sally's or Pepe's. It's on State Street in the East Rock area of New Haven, whereas the originals are down on Wooster Street (sort of New Haven's Very Little Italy) in the Wooster Square neighborhood. There are other good pizza options here in New Haven, too. Kitchen Zinc downtown has great organic, farm-to-table pizzas, and BAR, also downtown, has good wood-fired pizzas (and they also brew shitty beer). You can't go wrong with pizza in New Haven. I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for Marion's Pizza in Dayton, though. I personally think it hangs just fine, but I'm biased.

I'll give it a go. Can it be here in 15 minutes or less?

Only if your Star Trek Transporter is still functioning!

And YOU. Where is that green chili cheeseburger I was promised? Hasn't it been like two years or something? Seriously. What's up with that?

Don't make me find a failboat.
Maybe the failboat was believing that he would deliver .

OMFG! I'm drooling more than looking at naked Erin Andrews photos!
Sally's makes a white pizza(clams and bacon and garlic) that is a big favorite! But their regular pepperoni pizza is just killer! Not unusal to see lines half a block out the door waiting.
And the New York pizzas are very good also!
