Watching the replay of the Massillon-Stubenville game. Kempt has great composure. Brady Tonn had a nice arm but often played like a sophomore trying to be a star. Kempt is a very smart player, playing within himself. Impressive

Massillon QB Kempt no stranger to competition | FridayNightOhio.com

Updated: Tuesday, October 26, 2010

MASSILLON Last year, Kyle Kempt probably couldn't have found Massillon, Ohio, on a map. He was a freshman quarterback at a suburban high school in Oregon. At 6-foot-5 and a rifle for a right arm, Kempt was noticed mostly because Stanford Head Coach Jim Harbaugh offered the eighth-grader a scholarship.

But to say Kempt doesn't know the first thing about the Massillon-McKinley game wouldn?t be accurate. He knows precisely the first thing.

"We're competitive people," Kempt said. "I'm going to compete against them. I hate them. That's just how it is. A lot of people grow up in Massillon, and they just know some stuff is deeper than blood. I"m coming in here to compete my (butt) off against them.

"I wouldn't say this game is intimidating. I'd say it's downright exciting. Ever since I got here, people have been telling me about the Massillon-McKinley rivalry and how big it is. All that adrenaline is going to channel into how we play."

Archrivals' showdown is tale of two Kyles at QB | FridayNightOhio.com

Massillon quarterback Kyle Kempt throws a pass during a game earlier this season.

A sophomore named Kyle, who was a newcomer not just to his own program, but to the whole state, lined up at quarterback inside Paul Brown Tiger Stadium ready for his first taste of the Massillon-McKinley rivalry.

Two years ago, that sophomore quarterback was McKinley's Kyle Ohradzansky. On Saturday, that sophomore quarterback will be Massillon's Kyle Kempt.

Whichever Kyle can prove to be the most efficient and effective quarterback on Saturday will go a long way toward determining whether it will be the Tigers or the Bulldogs who will emerge victorious in the 120th meeting between the two rivals.

Two years ago, Ohradzansky, who spent his freshman year at a boarding school in Indiana before transferring to McKinley as a sophomore, didn't get much of a chance to enjoy his first experience in the game. Facing pressure from a constant Massillon pass rush, he was sacked six times and pressured four other times, while throwing for just 47 yards with an interception in a 17-0 Tiger win.

Lakota West?s Darling top passer in GMC | Preps Plus

By Steven Matthews | Monday, November 1, 2010, 10:58 AM

Lakota West High School sophomore Jordan Darling didn't even begin the season as the Firebirds' starting quarterback.

He ended the season as the top passer in the Greater Miami Conference.

Darling finished the season with a GMC-best 1,083 passing yards, which puts him third on West's single-season list.

In Friday night's win over Lakota East, Darling recorded career-highs in completions (13) and TD passes (two) in a game. He tossed seven TDs for the year.

"I told him, 'By game 10, you're not a sophomore anymore,'" West coach Larry Cox said. "He played like we expected him to play."

The West record for career passing yards - which also is a Lakota district record - is 2,579 yards held by Dustin Huff.

Duane puts this nugget in his latest 2012 article. I am not sure if he is just saying the 13' class is that good or if he is refering to a specific player.

With Braxton Miller the best quarterback Ohio has ever produced to this time and Cardale Jones the second best - plus the Class of 2013 likely to produce a quarterback better than either Miller or Jones - 2012 is getting overlooked.
