Gaines may be a baller but this seems like more of the same tepid success according to recruiting sites (of course they don't seem to need it at times).

Meanwhile Cornell, Cole, Weber and others are all headed elsewhere.

Weber may not be a great example considering LJ Scott is currently committed, but outside of LJ they don't have any "elite" or borderline "elite" players. But as you mentioned, recruiting rankings can be somewhat overrated if you can get guys who fit your play and coach them up. But eventually it always catches up.
